ABOUT ME


You feel it don’t you? How fast the time goes. I sure do…With my kids at ages 18, 20 and 24, it blows my mind. The days can be so long but the years really are short. With photography, we can grab on to those moments we don’t want to forget. At age 14, my mom handed me a Canon and I have been shooting ever since. I can still remember spending hours in the darkroom in college when film was our only medium. Now the beauty of digital gives us that instant gratification. My love for photography has grown ten fold since my kids were born and now I’m so grateful to get to document moments for others. While my husband and I now call DC home, I grew up in New York in a musical family! Dance was a huge part of my life and helped shaped the artist I am today.

PARENTHOOD

I am a loss mom. Why am I telling you? My first daughter passed on the day she was born and it changed me forever. It has made me compassionate and strong and more present and I have met so many others who have gone through similar experiences. I wouldn’t have the family I have today if it wasn’t for her. I am also an adoptive mom. Our 18 year old was adopted from Korea and I am not sure what I did to deserve such a gift. She is absolute sunshine. The boys…One in college and one grown and flown. The teenage years are equal parts terrifying and amazing and just as important to document as the newborn years. Blink and they will be moving out.

MY OTHER LOVES

  • I can’t live without my Nespresso machine and I never leave the house without lipstick.

  • My ability to retain 80’s music trivia is ridiculous.

  • Travel is everything to me. I’ll go anywhere.

  • Spending time on the beach in The Outer Banks is probably my favorite thing ever...With the camera of course!

When I was 14, my Mom gave me a Canon AE 1. I used it for my college photography classes. I’m talking film people, way before digital photography was even a thing! After all these years, I still have it along with a collection of vintage cameras that belonged to my grandfather including Kodak, Nikon, NKK, Poloroid, and Yashika. A Rollei was recently gifted to me and has joined the family.
